Trasimeno Archaeology Field School

Program Overview

Spend your summer uncovering the archaeology and history of Castiglione del Lago in this charming medieval town in Umbra. For six weeks, you will take a theoretical and a practical course, giving you a comprehensive overview of archaeological research and fieldwork as applied to the civilizations that shaped the area.

Academics & Curriculum

You will study two courses for three credits each:

ARCL 340 Archaeological Heritage of Lake Trasimenoequivalent to CLAS 150
ARFW 350 Archaeological Field Workshop, equivalent to ANTH 206

Accommodation & Meals

Students will live in modernly furnished studio apartments (2-3 students each) directly on the lakeshore, a short walking distance from supermarkets and the archaeological site. All apartments include furnished kitchens. Bus and train services directly connect Castiglione to other cities, including Rome and Florence, making it easy to travel over weekends. For more information, visit the Arcadia accommodation website.
