Introduction

At the same time, experience Spanish culture through activities and excursions both within the city as well as to other locations in Spain.

Academics

Students on this program enroll in two courses:

Spanish Language and Culture (3 credits, equivalent to SPAN 103)
Spanish language instruction is provided at a variety of levels and includes cultural and academic excursions within Madrid as well as a weekend trip to Valencia, on the Mediterranean coast.

Digital Manufacture (3 credits, equivalent to ENGR 106)
This course is taught in English at the the FabLab Madrid CEU, part of the MIT FabLab Network. It combines classes, lectures and visits, but it is basically a hands-on course. Students learn computed aided design, computer controlled cutting, parametric design, and computer controlled machining. Additionally, the course includes lectures by experts in digital fabrication for Architecture and Design and visits to different parts of Madrid, relevant to the content of the class.
