North China University of Technology

North China University of Technology (NCUT) is located in the western part of Beijing City and situated at the foot of picturesque Xishan Hills. Founded in 1946 and renamed in 1985, NCUT is a multi-dimensional higher education institution with an enrollment of roughly 11,000 students. Engineering is its main field of study, but Liberal Arts, Economy, Management and Law are also incorporated in its teaching and research programs. This program is good for students interested in studying near Beijing but who may not have Chinese fluency.

Academics & Curriculum

Students enroll in 15 credits per semester, taught in either English or Chinese. Some majors, such as international economics or architecture, are taught entirely in English. Some potential courses can be found by visiting NCUT's website, although students should contact Wang Yue for an exact list of available courses based on major.

Accommodation & Meals

NCUT Housing 2Participants on this program live in residence halls, in either single or double rooms with an international roommate. Residence halls include shared kitchens, laundry rooms, electronic reading room (free internet), a gym, and multi-function hall. All rooms are equipped with telephone, television, wifi Internet access (free), desks, closets, and air-conditioners, as well as private bathrooms and showers. Students will have access to dining halls with a meal card; the monthly food charge is approximately 500 RMB (about $75 USD). There are also a variety of on-campus restaurants.

Financial Aid

CUA students are eligible to apply for assistantships for the duration of their program. In exchange for 10 hours of work per week (similar to work study at CUA), students receive a small stipend from NCUT that should cover meals and other minor costs.

Exchange Scholars

Exchange Scholar programs at The Catholic University of America provide an immersive international experience for a limited number of highly qualified students.  This exclusive opportunity enables students to study at a select group of prestigious universities worldwide.  Exchange partner schools are selected on the basis of mission, academic excellence, dedication to internationalization, and a commitment to research.
