Cape Town Summer – Internship

Introduction

An IES Abroad internship in Cape Town develops your professional skills, your ability to communicate across cultures, and provides substantive work experience to jump-start your career in today's competitive job market.

You'll be guaranteed an unpaid summer internship in Cape Town, where you'll work up to 32 hours a week at a local business or organization. We will work with you to find the closest placement match between your professional and personal goals with what's available for internships in Cape Town.

Academics

While working in Cape Town, students are required to enroll in a 6-credit academic internship seminar with other IES interns. Topics include:

  • Understanding business culture
  • Improving communication
  • Strengthening work attitude and aptitude
  • Resolving conflicts
  • Navigating issues, challenges, and opportunities to succeed on the job in Milan and when returning home

Housing Accommodation & Meals

Participants live in a shared house located in Cape Town within walking distance of the IES Center. Although meals are not included, students will have access to wifi. The house offers single and double rooms, a communal lounge, and a fully-equipped kitchen area, as well as digital safes for storage of personal belongings.
