Spanish for Healthcare

Introduction

Travel to Nicaragua to volunteer your nursing and Spanish skills acquired at Catholic University at the Roberto Clement Health Clinic in Limon 1, Nicaragua. You will have the opportunity to teach public health education classes at local schools and attend cultural awareness sessions. There is also an excursion to historic and colonial Granada, Masaya, and the Island of Ometepe.

Location

Limón is a village located approximately 75 miles north of Managua, the capitol city of Nicaragua. The area is popular for tourism because of its proximity to the ocean, mountains, and even volcanoes.  At the same time, however, many of the local communities are impoverished and rely on state-run clinics for their medical needs.

Academics

This program is an optional component of the semester course, SPAN 108: Spanish for Health Care II. Students must be enrolled in SPAN 108 in order to participate on the program. View the SPAN 108 syllabus.

Accommodations

Students are provided with hotel accommodations.
