Academics & Curriculum
Participants on this program earn 6 credits through French language and area studies courses. All courses are worth 3 credits unless otherwise specified, are taught in French, and incorporate class-related excursions in Paris including visits to art museums, architectural wonders, and historic landmarks. Course options are determined by language proficiency. Depending on the level of French determined by a language placed exam, students take on one of the following course loads:
- The advanced French language course and one area studies course
- Two French-taught area studies courses
Students interested in learning more about course offerings can find information here.
Accommodation & Meals
Participants often live in a French home in Paris or its surrounding banlieues (suburbs). Participants eat breakfast daily and three evening meals per week with their hosts; other meals are available at university cafeterias and inexpensive restaurants.
A limited number of apartments are also available for an additional fee. Internet access is available via Ethernet cable. Rooms are single studios, and each apartment has a private bathroom and small kitchenette. An IES Abroad Resident Assistant lives on-site. Meals are not included.
