This program is located in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, which lies in the heart of Southeast Asia. Students will be studying at Mahidol University, the country’s first medical school and the #1 ranked University in all of Thailand. The experience will be full of opportunities like interacting with elephants, exploring ancient ruins, taking classes with Thai and other international students, and volunteering in the Thai Community. Students will also be able to experience the fast city energy and tranquil Buddhist spirituality. The culture, beauty and people of Thailand in collaboration with the stellar academics at Mahidol makes for an absolutely unforgettable experience.
Academics
Mahidol is recognized country-wide for its high caliber of student research, quality of faculty, and achievements in teaching and international academics. English-taught courses include three core areas: health science, science and technology, and social science and humanity. To view the course list, visit the CISabroad program page and click Choose your courses bar under Program Details. A 4-credit course at Mahidol is worth three credits at Catholic University.
Accommodation & Meals
Semester in Thailand has an incredible housing program. The Baan Suan and Bundit apartments are self-catered so students need to prepare or purchase their own meals. Although there are no kitchens in the housing, there are many inexpensive eateries with delicious local food. Both locations are about a five-minute taxi or shuttle ride from Mahidol University, or a 20-25 minute walk.
Baan Suan
Baan Suan is a small, family run establishment with charm. Baan Suan is the ideal option for students looking for a close-knit and convivial environment. Though not a traditional homestay, staff at Baan Suan make sure that each resident is happy and cared for. Not every floor plan is the same, and you may find some classic, quirky Thai decor to welcome you. Students can get to campus via taxis that are available right outside the main gate of the Baan Suan residence.
Bundit
The newly constructed Bundit residence is a large, modern facility. As opposed to Baan Suan’s smaller facility, Bundit is comprised of several high-rise buildings. Bundit apartments come with many amenities including an outdoor pool with a large spirit house, exercise gym, restaurant, convenience store, and rooftop terrace—there’s even a pool on the roof! The spacious rooms boast very modern furnishings and flat screen TV’s. A shuttle service to campus is offered daily. If you’re looking for a lot of creature comforts, and a more active atmosphere, Bundit is your choice.
