Chung Yuan International Leadership Experience
Introduction
Students spend three weeks in northern Taiwan, immersed in an exciting and intensive summer program on international leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation in industry. In addition to seminars and guest lectures from leading scholars, students participate in fieldwork, corporate and industrial visits, cultural activities, and excursions. The entire program is conducted in English, making it accessible to American students and facilitating collaboration with other participants from Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines, and around the world.
Academics
Students choose between one of two tracks:
- Renewable energy and photovoltaics
- High power ultrasound
- Sustainability
- Fuel cells and batteries
- Innovation creativity and thinking outside the box
- Engineering projects

Upon completion, students receive a transcript from Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU). The program may be used to fulfill a 3-credit General Technical Elective from the Department of Mechanical Engineering or from any other department of the School of Engineering with the consent of your academic advisor.
Culture
Included weekend cultural excursions are designed to show off the island's beauty. Past trips have included the North Coast, Sun Moon Lake, and the Ilan traditional arts and cultural center. Students experience first-hand local Taiwanese food and the traditional culture of the indigenous peoples. These and other cross-cultural interactions are designed to promote communication across boundaries and to broaden international vision.
Accommodations
Students are conveniently housed together on the CCYCU campus in one of university's four
residence halls. All meals are included.
