Introduction
The CUA-Universidad de Navarra Exchange Program enables students to live in an international setting while studying under the guidance of world class faculty. Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., The Catholic University of America is a six-minute Metro ride to Union Station. From there, it's a short walk to the national monuments, free Smithsonian museums, the White House, and countless restaurants and cafes.
Eligibility
Enrolled at and nominated by Universidad de Navarra
Good academic and disciplinary standing
Meets the English language proficiency requirements. Accepted tests are the TOEFL and IELTS
Willing to adhere to all CUA policies and guidelines
Academics
A typical U.S. course load is 15 credits (usually five courses). Exchange students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credits, but are encouraged to take 15.
To view CUA course offerings, follow these instructions:
- Go to the Class Search page in Cardinal Station.
- Enter the following information:
Institution: The Catholic University of America
Term: If you are studying in the fall, select the most recent fall term. If you are studying in the spring, select the most recent spring term.
Course Subject: Select the appropriate department.
Course Number: Greater than or equal to 100
Course Career: Undergraduate
Do not check “Show Open Classes Only’ or “Show Open Entry/Exit Classes Only.”
3. Hit "Search."
The resulting list of courses is not current and may change, but it should give you an approximate idea of what will be available during your term at CUA. Registration for 500- and 600-level courses will require special permission from the department. Students may also use this process at the start of the semester to find out where the course will meet.
Buddy Program
During the fall semester, the International Buddy Program allows exchange students to become immersed and socially integrated into the Catholic University community through the partnership with Catholic University students. Buddies provide a friendly face, helping hand, and offer that first CUA friendship for incoming international students. The CUA host students are interested in meeting international students and helping them adjust to life at CUA and in Washington, D.C.. Buddies can help to explore campus and even the greater city of Washington. To ensure that international students have the best experience possible, we will also coordinate several cultural excursions over the course of the semester. These excursions may be events like a baseball game, pumpkin carving, a scavenger hunt, or a holiday meal. Accommodations
Students may choose to live in on-campus residence halls or independently arrange their own housing off campus. Once a student's study abroad application has been submitted, however, the housing choice cannot be changed.
Generally, exchange students will receive confirmation of their fall housing assignment by mid-August and for the spring semester by mid-December. Students planning to be at CUA for both fall and spring semesters should note that housing is not available during Christmas Break as the residence halls are closed.
The cost of housing is the responsibility of the student and will be charged to the CUA student account. For your convenience Housing Services sponsors several
Move-in Services including the sale of XL twin sheets (all mattress at CUA are twin XL). International students who choose to purchase these linens may have them mailed to Housing Services; Housing Services will then deliver them to your room. For more information on housing options,

Meal Plan
Students may enroll in a CUA meal plan. Options are outlined on the
Dining Services website, and student should note their selection on the Residence Hall and Dining Services Application, which is submitted as part of the application. Students who need special dietary accommodations should contact CUAbroad prior to arrival.
Students who do not wish to purchase a meal plan may still purchase meals in the campus cafeterias. They may also eat out in local restaurants, or purchase food at a grocery store and prepare it on their own. Students should be advised that individual rooms do not have kitchen facilities, although they are usually available on each floor of the student dormitories.
