CUArch Summer Experience Abroad

In the summer 2017 the SEA Program will offer the opportunity to attend two classes abroad: ARPL 552 and ARPL 507, 3-credit each.  The classes will be held throughout a travel around the island of Sicily and Pantelleria.

SEA Travel Schedule (Subject to Change)

ARPL 507- Tech Design-Build
This course will research and design small scale spaces around an assigned theme and/or purpose.  The design will be represented digitally in both 2D and 3D.  Models will be 3D printed and part of the structure or interior elements might be fabricated full scale.  The projects will be exhibited/disseminated through specific media and/or events.

This summer 2017 offers a unique opportunity for an architectural installation of an exhibit in Pantelleria Italy to which students are taking part with their Studio work.  The exhibit is sponsored by the local administration who will also assign scholarships to best projects.

ARPL 552- ArchiteCouture
This class is designed to allow students to adapt (tailor) a specific architectural design solution around an assigned theme in a sequence of geographically different conditions.
Deliverables will include a creative booklet, containing: notes, images, sketches, drawings, renderings, creative collages, etc., to narrate the "story" of each architectural solution. This summer 2017, the students will have the opportunity to design a sequence of small-scale lodging facility in various locations visited in Sicily and compose a sketchbook with all their work and vision.
