Academics & Curriculum
Some of the subjects from which students can choose in the Faculty of Arts include History, English Literature, Languages, Politics, Economics, Geography, Classical Studies, Music, Philosophy, Sociology & Social Policy, and Mathematics & Statistics. Participants take six courses per semester, earning 15 semester hours of total credit. One restriction at UCD is that students are expected to take all of their courses at the same level – either second or third-year.

At the Quinn School of Business students have access to more than 60 second- and third-year courses in business along with a required course on Irish culture and history. Some of the subject areas offered include Accounting, Banking & Finance, Business & Industrial Systems, Business Management & International Business, Economics, Industrial Relations & Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems, and Marketing. Participants take four 3-credit courses in business in addition to the 3-credit course on Irish History and Culture designed specifically for study abroad students.

Students considering a study abroad program in Ireland should submit their Credit Approval Form well in advance of the deadline. Students generally sign up for 6-8 modules in one semester, as every two modules (in the same academic area) are counted as one 3-credit course in the US. Three modules in the same area can count as two 3-credit courses in the US. Students interested in learning more about course offerings can find information here.

Accommodation & Meals
The UCD campus stretches through the southern Dublin suburbs and offers students a contained and practical environment in which to learn and live, while the culture opportunities of Dublin’s city center are only a short ride away. All flats are located only a short walk from the UCD Arts Building and Quinn School of Business.

Students live on-campus in apartment-style flats with single bedrooms and shared living room, kitchen, and bathrooms. Student flats may be co-ed. Participants prepare their own meals and shop at nearby grocery stores and markets. Self-service laundry facilities are available within the housing complex. Wireless internet access is provided and public phones are available within the complex.
